What is TELNET, and is it supported? |
||||
TELNET and SSH are both protocols used to connect to remote Unix based hosts. While TELNET is more widely used than SSH, many security flaws make it unacceptable for use in today's security conscious era. Starting January 1, 2007, OIT will no longer offer access via non-secure protocols (including TELNET) to any of its Unix-based servers. For non-OIT servers, OIT still highly recommends that secure protocols, such as SSH, be used. |
