OIT 2012 Survey Results

A total of 3303 people completed the 2012 OIT Satisfaction Survey and it included 2122 students, 450 faculty and 731 staff.

Overall satisfaction, as well as satisfaction with individual services was statistically compared last year to determine where there were changes. Usage of individual services was also compared to usage repored in the previous year.

  • Mean overall satisfaction in 2012 was 3.96 which is a significant drop from 4.04 from 2011.
  • Breaking overall satisfaction down by status, there was no significant change from 2011 in satisfaction for Faculty (mean=3.97) or for Staff (mean=4.14). However, student overall satisfaction dropped significantly from 4.01 in 2011 to 3.86 in 2012.

Faculty Usage

  • Electronic mail (Tmail,Exchange): Increased significantly from 92.9% in 2011 to 95.9% in 2012
  • Exchange calendars: Increased significantly from 30.2% in 2011 to 40.9% in 2012
  • Workshops: Increased significantly from 22.6% in 2011 to 31.0% in 2012

Faculty Satisfaction

  • Wireless network: Decreased significantly from a mean of 4.53 in 2011 to 4.21 in 2012
  • Online@UT (Blackboard): Decreased significantly from a mean of 4.20 in 2011 to 3.86 in 2012

Staff Usage

  • Wireless network: Usage significantly increased from 57.5% in 2011 to 63.0% in 2012
  • Exchange calendars: Usage significantly increased from 51.6% in 2011 to 57.6% in 2012
  • Help with troubleshooting: Usage significantly increased from 49.4% in 2011 to 54.5% in 2012
  • Web environments: Usage significantly increased from 19.9% in 2011 to 27.1% in 2012
  • On-site video or audio streaming services: Usage significantly increased from 8.9% in 2011 to 11.9% in 2012

Staff Satisfaction

  • Wireless network: Decreased significantly from a mean of 4.48 in 2011 to 4.31 in 2012
  • Exchange calendars: Increased significantly from a mean of 4.42 in 2011 to 4.52 in 2012
  • Online@UT (Blackboard): Decreased significantly from a mean of 4.24 in 2011 to 4.09 in 2012
  • Enterprise systems and applications: Increased significantly from a mean of 3.98 in 2011 to 4.17 in 2012

Students Usage

  • Online@UT(Blackboard): Usage significantly decreased from 90.7% in 2011 to 88.1% in 2012

Student Satisfaction

  • Electronic mail: Increased significantly from 4.25 in 2011 to 4.42 in 2012
  • Wireless network: Decreased significantly from a mean of 4.02 in 2011 to 3.49 in 2012
  • Online class registration (Banner): Increased significantly from 3.34 in 2011 to 3.68 in 2012
  • Public computing labs: Decreased significantly from a mean of 4.12 in 2011 to 4.05 in 2012
  • Online@UT (Blackboard): Decreased significantly from a mean of 4.08 in 2011 to 3.96 in 2012
